For discovery of the phenomenon known as “cross-priming” of cytotoxic T lymphocytes, whereby professional antigen presenting cells, such as dendritic cells, process antigen from foreign or infected cells for presentation to cytotoxic T cells; and for the discovery of positive selection of the T cell receptor repertoire by low affinity interactions wit self antigens in the Thymus.
